With international artist Mark Paine, the principal horn of two major European orchestras. With the European Union Chamber Orchestra, of which he has been principal horn for some 22 years, his latest CD of Haydn Divertimentos and Symphonies was named Editor's Choice in the UK 's 'Gramophone' Magazine in July 2008. He has also played many concertos with this orchestra, in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. With his other orchestra, the City of London Sinfonia, he has played many concertos and chamber concerts in London and around the UK. Mark is also in demand with most of England's other chamber orchestras as a guest principal horn.
Rosemary Barnes, piano, was for more than 25 years one of London's most sought-after accompanists and vocal coaches. Though only 18 when she left New Zealand on a QE11 Arts Advisory Council bursary to study piano with Franz Reizenstein at the Royal Academy of Music, Rosemary had already appeared as soloist on radio and television and with the Alex Lindsay String Orchestra. Rosemary has performed on BBC Radio 3, Granada TV and at many leading UK venues including Belfast's Usher Hall and London's Wigmore Hall. She is in demand as a recital partner for both national and international artists, and also enjoys her frequent concert appearances with up-and-coming young Kiwi performers. Her recording work includes three CDs for the Continuum label. Rosemary was awarded the MNZM for services to music in the 2000 Queen's Birthday Honours.
Darren Pene Pati is a 22 year old Samoan-born tenor. Pene was the winner of the 2009-2010 New Zealand Aria Competition in Rotorua last year, was third in the Becroft Aria 2010 and won the nomination for the North Shore PACS Mazda Foundation National Young Performer Award in voice which will be contested in Invercargill in October 2010. Pene was also placed second in the 2010 NSPACS Seamus Casey Memorial Award. This aspiring young singer has sung for many great music names including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Dame Malvina Major and Sir Andrew Davis.
