Nathan's groundbreaking album for Polygram in 1994 "Shift Left" was followed by the gold selling "Squire for Hire", the biggest selling jazz album in New Zealand history. Nathan's 8th solo record, "The Poet's Embrace", features one of the country's most esteemed pianists, Kevin Field (who also contributed a track), plus younger Auckland University graduates Alain Koetsier (drums) and Thomas Botting (acoustic bass). The Poets Embrace sees Nathan return to his acoustic jazz roots, with modal song structures written for lengthy improvisation, making for an exciting album and more importantly for live music fans, a very exciting concert. "The Poet's Embrace" will be out in March 2012 on Warner Records and will be available on vinyl, CD and download.
