"You can't program real life Jeanie, it's full of chaos! Real life doesn't come down to zeroes and ones"

Theatre of Love presents Free Load by Grae Burton, a sci-fi thriller set in a not too distant future where the lines between the real and the virtual are almost non-existent.

2055. The world is a stormy, seeming endless night that goes on forever. After the untimely death of her sister Epinine, Jeanie develops an obsession with her latest software package, called Free Load, a virtual program more human than ourselves. When Jeanie herself dies, her partner Mark travels down the virtual rabbit hole to discover what went wrong.

It is a story of epic scale about sisterhood, obsession, loss, love, the dangers of our increasing online connection and real world disconnection, the nature of control, and the individual's right to choose to live or die.

Free Load is inspired by classic morality tales like Pinocchio and Frankenstein and the sci-fi classics Wild Palms and 2001, A Space Odyssey. With Matt Baker, Alisha Lawrie Paul, Emanuelle Bains and Jason Hodzelmans. Directed by Jane Yonge.

"a dramatic, electric and thrilling story... an exciting, intelligent, powerful and unreal piece of future shocking theatre." Review of 2009 production by Matt Bowler, Fairfax Media
