Conductor Stuart Weightman has organized a varied and imaginative programme that encompasses some 14 songs through the last 500 years including Thomas Tallis "If you love me, keep my Commandments" from the 1500's, a Thomas Morley 16th century madrigal "Sing we and chant it", Henry Purcell's 17th century "May the God of Wit Inspire" from The Fairy Queen, Antonio Vivaldi's "Domine Fili Unigentite", traditional favourites Stephen Foster's "Old Folks at Home" and the Scottish ballad "Loch Lomand". Also included are two more modern pieces Vincent Persichetti's "sam was a man" and Matyas Seiber's "The Handsome Butcher". John Rutter's "This is the day", composed for and sung at the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton last year, represents our current century.
