Unitec Year 2 Acting: 'Comedy and Drama' Double Bill
In their first public performances the second year actors have been divided into two companies, each performing a different play making a double bill of comedy and drama.
In The Wedding by Anton Chekhov, a family seeking to enhance their reputation, pay a senior official to attend their daughter's wedding, thereby lending status to the occasion. When this individual is proven to be less than plausible, a comedy of accusations and punctured agendas ensues. This is one of Chekhov's famous short plays, wherein he affectionately, but with characteristic wit and incision, exposes superficial bourgeois aspirations. Directed by Elena Stejko.
