A number of important historic taonga are being returned to the marae including copies of tipuna manuscripts and photos, reproductions of historical paintings . These along with numerous Kotahitanga Parlimentary artefacts will be on display during the two days of celebration.
The marae will be host to some 500 visitors who are arriving to celebrate the role of the Kotahitanga Maori Parliament. The visitors will include iwi leaders from all parts of the country, Parliamentarians, and the Governor-General. Events for the day will include seminars on: the history and role of the Kotahitanga movement; the Iwi Leaders Forum; NZ Constitutional reviews; and the future of Maori political unity and diversity.
At the conclusion of the activities at Papawai, a celebratory dinner will be held at 7.00pm at Rathkeale College, Masterton. The guest speaker for the evening will be Professor Sir Mason Durie - KNZM, FRSNZ, FRANZCP.

The marae will hold an open day allowing members of the public to visit the marae, to learn about the Kotahitanga Parliament, and to see the many historical accounts and artifacts on display. The open day is an opportunity for more people to participate in the celebrations as well as creating a connection with our local community and thanking funders for their support.
