Opera Factory launches The Opera Box - a new series of fringe studio opera. Staged in a contemporary setting and presenting a double bill of comedies at the Factory Theatre, Eden Street in the heart of Newmarket.
Firstly, premiering 'The Kiri Masterclass' by Auckland Claire Scholes, this delightful new work abounds with cliches about the nerves and emotions that eight University level singers experience in preparing to sing for a Master Diva.
The second offering is Gian Carlo Menotti's delicious one act grotesque comedy 'The Old Maid and the Thief' - a radio broadcast in 14 short scenes, set in the 1940's and telling a tale of twisted morals and evil womanly power "The devil couldn't do what a woman can - Make a thief out of an honest man".
Directed by Sally Sloman with Rosemary Barnes as Music Director/Pianist, stage designs by John Eaglen and lighting design by Nik Janiurek, this double bill offers an innovative and informal theatre experience and is suitable for all ages.
The Factory theatre is easily accessible in the heart of Newmarket and handy to public transport.
