Ohakune Mardi Gras; Saturday 27th June 2015
      “The Junction”, Ohakune
There is no such thing as bad weather…just inappropriate clothing!

OMG goes for six full-on hours, beginning at 7:00 PM and wrapping up at 1:00 AM. Big night, anyone? The event is designed for all ages, including families, but is mostly patronised by 18-to-24-year olds from all over the country. This mixed demographic happens BECAUSE the OMG experience is a fabulous concoction of infectious live music, established and up-and-coming musical talent, audience interaction, street entertainment, Xtreme rides, special effects and a fantasticly popular fire and fireworks display. All of this is packaged in a super friendly and safe environment. Then again, maybe it is simply because OMG is THE opportunity to dress to impress!

In the past, OMG has showcased some of New Zealand’s best up-and-coming musical talent, including: Batucada Sound Machine (2004), Strike (2006), Kora, Concord Dawn (2007), The Checks (2008), Midnight Youth (2009), Dane Rumble (2010), Opshop (2011), I Am Giant, Mt Eden (2012), Please Please (2013), and Peking Duk (2014).

OMG takes place at The Junction, the traditional après-ski capital of Ohakune. The Junction includes: the Powderhorn Chateau, 4 Thames Street, Turoa Lodge, Hot Lava nightclub, and the Suitcase Bar. Sitting elbow-to-elbow with world heritage site Mt Ruapehu, The Junction is not only the gateway to the Turoa skifield, but a stop on the world-famous scenic train journey, the Northern Explorer, and a part of Nga Haerenga, the New Zealand Cycle Trail.

Kids 12 years and under are free - no ticket is required.
*The Winter Classic party upstairs at The Matterhorn and is NOT part of the fenced off Ohakune Mardi Gras Street Party.
