      Yoyo Entertainment presents
RnB star  "LLOYD"  LIVE  in AUCKLAND

Lloyd Polite, Jr. was born Jan 3, 1986 in New Orleans, LA to Robin Polite and Lloyd Polite, Sr. He is African-American. Contrary to popular belief, Lloyd does not have a middle name. After the untimely death of his father when Lloyd was 2 yrs old, Lloyd's immediate family moved to Atlanta, GA.

As a child, Lloyd fell in love with performing. As a student at the prestigious Atlanta-based DeKalb School of the Arts, it was clear he’d found his calling. After catching the attention of former Klymaxx-member-turned-talent-manager Joyce Irby at the tender age of ten and wetting his professional feet via a stint with the kiddy group N-Toon, the dynamic performer known to music fans today simply as Lloyd eventually signed with Irv Gotti’s The Inc. Records and has been nurturing a solid career ever since.

Lloyd was only 18 years old when he made his major mark on the music scene with the release of his 2004 debut CD, South Side, which spawned the Top 20 Ashanti collabo of the same name. In the years that followed, Lloyd has proven himself as a legitimate industry player, generating hits like 2006’s chart-topping “You” and the infectious “Get It Shawty,” which saw top two placement. Both hit singles were featured on his gold-selling sophomore disc, Street Love.

In addition to being a successful artist, Lloyd has also launched his own label, Young Goldie Music and prides himself on his community involvement, participating in a variety of charitable campaigns, including rapper David Banner’s Heal the Hood Benefit Concert, Usher’s New Look Foundation, and Dallas Austin Save the Music Project. Following the examples set by his peers; Lloyd plans to launch his own community organization that will focus on providing positive role models for fatherless children. “Growing up without a father is a pain that I can personally relate too. I want to help fill that void in someone else’s life”, explains Lloyd

In August 2008, Lloyd returned with his third effort, Lessons In Love, which featured the hit single, “Girls Around the World” with Lil Wayne. The irresistible laid back track which samples Eric B & Rakim’s “Paid In Full”, was co-produced by Lloyd along with his Street Love crew, Jasper Cameron & Reese. The Hype Williams-directed music video was a futuristic, sexy clip that topped the BET “106 & Park” countdown, once again solidifying Lloyd amongst the R&B elite.

In 2009, Lloyd parted ways with Irv Gotti and The Inc, and later signed a new deal with Interscope Records. Of his new situation, Lloyd says, "I love the way Interscope gets down. I love the way Jimmy (Iovine, label head) gets down.” Wasting no time getting started, Lloyd released a new single and video with a fitting title, “Set Me Free”, which co-stars fellow New Orleans native Mystikal, who returns to rap after 6 years of incarceration. The track was featured on an independent Project/Mixtape titled Like Me: The Young Goldie EP. This project featured a host of additional tracks with appearances by Lil Wayne, Bun-B, J. Holiday, Nicki Minaj, Juelz Santana, Richboy, Tyga and others.

Lloyd had been eager to break new ground and explore opportunities that would take his career to the next level and supply his fans with more great music. To that end, he spent most of 2009 and early 2010 traveling abroad, staging performances in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Aside from his touring, and recording his personal projects, Lloyd kept busy with several features, none bigger than the #1 smash hit “Bed Rock”, which he penned for Lil Wayne’s super group Young Money.

Since signing with Zone 4/Interscope, Lloyd has been busy prepping his 4th studio album, which he recently announced via twitter (@lloyd_yg) will be titled ‘King of Hearts’. After working with a talented pool of producers and writers including Jim Jonsin, Rico Love, The Runners, Ester Dean, and Bruno Mars, to name a few, the R&B singer released his debut single, “Lay It Down”, produced by Awesome Jones (aka Polow Da Don). The track samples the Patti Labelle classic “Love, Need and Want You”, and leads the release of King of Hearts which is due out summer 2011.

Acclaimed songwriter/producer Polow Da Don had this to say of his work with Lloyd, “Real music, real singing, classic.” Lloyd offered his thoughts on his new situation, "It feels good to start fresh with Polow and Interscope, making music is fun again. We took my sound to another level with "Lay It Down". It's a true R&B sound that's missing from music right now."

With a successful recording career, business savvyness and a connection to the community, Lloyd is one young person on which youth has clearly not been wasted.
