      A Concert to Welcome Spring

A string quartet from Orchestras Central, (OCT), with flutist Luca Manghi and Aidan Phillips, tenor.

A wonderfully varied program in this exceptionally beautiful wharenui to welcome the coming Spring.  Afternoon tea will be provided following the concert. After that there will be a talk in the wharenui by Eddie Neha the Marae Manager to explain some of the glorious carvings.

This will be the second concert to be held in the Te Iho Rangi wharenui at the Fairfield College Marae.  The first, in June 2021, was a great success and was greeted with such enthusiasm and wonder at the beautiful venue, one of Kirikiriroa’s hidden treasures, that another just had to be organized.  The joy of music is needed even more in these testing times.

As demand for that first such concert in this wharenui in June 2021 was so strong many people missed out on securing a seat.  So this next concert is your chance to have a very special experience. But don’t delay making a booking.

This concert will also be a fundraiser to provide all-weather canopies for the forecourt (pae pae) in front of the Wharenui (see photo below).
