Popcorn
By Ben Elton
Directed by Suzy Sampson

Winner! 1998 Laurence Olivier Award, Best New Comedy
Winner! Barclays Theatre Award for Best New Play.

Bruce Delamitri makes movies - Tarantino -style movies. Wayne and Scout watch movies. Bruce’s latest Oscar winner is Wayne’s all time favourite. He’s seen it many times and only shot the popcorn seller once. Wayne and Scout are the so-called 'Mall Murderers', serial killers, who actually kill people. For real. Brooke Daniels wants to be in movies but just how far will she go to get what she wants? Farrah Delamitri couldn’t care less about movies. She just wants to get her fifty percent of everything Bruce owns, before there is a public backlash against his violent movies. Velvet Delamitri is ambivalent about movies - although it's kind of cool to have a famous Dad, she thinks his movies are, like, really gross. When Wayne and Scout break into Bruce's Hollywood mansion, moral debate soon disintegrates with catastrophic results.

'Bloodcurdling comedy' - London Sunday Times

'First rate entertainment, funny, gripping and genuinely thought provoking' - Daily Telegraph

'This is Ben Elton at his gruesome, satirical best' - Daily Mail

Please note the play contains strong language and sexual references. RP16
