Unlock the secrets of Venice!

Witness the verve, style, and fireworks of cello concerti by Vivaldi and Platti. Baroque cellist James Bush joins NZ Barok to take you on a trip to the magical world of Venetian baroque music.

Winner of the TVNZ Young Musicians Competition and the National Concerto Competition of New Zealand, James has worked regularly with many of Europe’s leading baroque orchestras including Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Concerto Köln and as principal cello of Al Ayre Español. He has also collaborated with renowned dance company Sasha Waltz and Guests, performing from the Bach cello suites in 50 performances worldwide of the work Gezeiten. Recent recordings he was involved in have been released by Deutsche Harmonia Mundi (SONY), Naive, Harmonia Mundi, Challenge Classics and Winter & Winter.

NZ Barok is New Zealand’s only period instrument orchestra. Comprising leading baroque specialists from all over New Zealand, NZ Barok performs using instruments and playing styles of the period, breathing fresh life and vitality into baroque and classical masterpieces and lesser-known musical treasures from the 18th century.

NZ Barok would like to thank Auckland Council, Foundation North, The Wallace Foundation, The Southern Trust, Four Winds Foundation & Dame Jenny Gibbs for their support.
