Food is the prefect medium to break down barriers and celebrate the ‘out of place’ we all experience – whether that be our individuality, abilities or our backgrounds, food provides a platform for inclusion and acceptance while enjoying the extraordinary.

The residents of the Laura Fergusson Trust are excited to be hosting a very special evening to celebrate the abilities and willingness of disabled people as normal community participants. This event is about people coming together to share their backgrounds and experiences that celebrates cultures, cuisines and tastes, enabling unique expressions and stories to be shared while challenging perceptions and including those typically on the margin. There is much to celebrate and share while fostering understanding of ability in a dynamic and rewarding experience.

Three talented head chefs have volunteered to help create a memorable dinner: Laurent Loudeac (Tartines French Cafe), Vaibhav Vishen (Aston Norwood) and Koen Hogendoorn (WBC Restaurant). The event will be hosted at the Laura Fergusson's Naenae home with welcome drinks, and a three-course meal matched with wine from Matahiwi Estate.

The chefs each prepare a course, and work with a group of Laura Fergusson residents in the Trust’s kitchen to plan the event and delivery, complete restaurant visits and hands-on food workshops. The residents will welcome guests and also share some of their own stories and experiences during the evening. The event will be themed by the residents to showcase their abilities.

Laura Fergusson Trust Wellington is an independent charitable trust that has been proudly supporting those with physical disability within the Wellington region for over 40 years. LFT's mission is to reduce barriers and provide opportunities to people with disabilities to pursue a supported and independent life.

The Trust achieves its mission through the provision of residential living at the Naenae base, along with providing specialist support for many more people living in the community. Their focus is on what our clients can do, not what they can’t do, which is achieved through engagement in real life activities.

Come and celebrate these achievements with us.

Ticket includes: A welcome drink and canapés, and a three-course dinner matched with wine and beer.
Please note that seating for this event will be at shared tables, this means you may be seated with other people as well as the group you have booked with.
