Two powerful and confronting plays reaching to the heart of murder.
Devised by Miranda Harcourt, William Brandt, and Stuart McKenzie, Verbatim and Portraits are the result of dozens of interviews with violent offenders, their families, and the families of their victims. These are real stories, told in the words of those who lived them.
An incredible cast of NZ industry leaders – Jodie Rimmer (In My Father’s Den), Fraser Brown (Harry), and Renée Lyons (Nick: An accidental hero) embody multiple characters to paint a picture of violence and its endless repercussions.
A collaboration between Last Tapes Theatre Company and justice reform group JustSpeak, VERBATIM gives an intimate insight into lives filled with loss.
Directed by Jeff Szusterman.
Warning: Please be advised that these works contain some potentially distressing material, including coarse language and descriptions of sexual violence.
