This event has probably been and gone!
"In these dangerous times, where it seems that the world is ripping apart at the seams, we all can learn how to survive from those who stare death squarely in the face every day and (we) should reach out to each other and bond as a community, rather than hide from the terrors of life at the end of the millennium.” Jonathan Larson.
Rent is the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning rock musical that tells the story of one year in the life of a group of friends in 1990’s New York. The group is dealing with love, loss, AIDS and the decisions that are going to shape their lives.
It’s been nearly 20 years since Rent became a phenomenon, and is one of the few pieces of art that can legitimately claim to have changed people's lives. With an army of devoted fans as well as it's vehement critics, Rent has had huge popularity, experienced a backlash, several revivals, spawned a movie version and a new following all of its own.
In the end, however, it exists as a piece of art to be experienced and to remind whoever experiences it to measure their lives in Love.
