Powerhouse vocalist Coco Davis’ speciality is breathing new life into the iconic forms of early blues music, those raw epics that forever haunt modern music. Her debut album “Old Haunts” is a gothic and witty travelogue through the rich era of early 20th century female blues music, featuring vengeful and toothsome numbers by the likes of Bessie Smith, Lil’ Green and Ma Rainey.

Widely acclaimed in NZ theatre circles, Davis has leant her talents to numerous Auckland Theatre Company shows (Cabaret, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors) and will spend much of 2016 on tour in New Zealand, Australia and the UK with the contemporary musical Daffodils, and has also appeared in the Auckland Arts Festival tribute to Dusty Springfield, Dust to Dusky.

In a special tour to mark the release of “Old Haunts”, Davis and band present an immersive in-the-round cabaret concert, performing the entirety of the LP in order, and a further set of rhythm & blues toe-tappers.  With cabaret seating expect a sultry Deep South show - with dancing firmly encouraged!

She’ll be joined by a group led by producer / guitarist Tom Rodwell, of calypso-blues notorieties Storehouse and a key collaborator with Don McGlashan, working on his recent hit album Lucky Stars.

“Tom Rodwell is Sheffield’s answer to Lightnin’ Hopkins,” - NME

"...she sings with a soaring glory." - Simon Wilson, Metro Magazine

“Old Haunts is smart, spooky, funny, and at times, funky as anything... The musical settings range from dark
grungy funk to shimmering, space age lounge.” - Nick Bollinger, Radio NZ

"...richly emotional..." - Paul Simei-Barton, New Zealand Herald
