Auckland Transport presents the Cake Walk, hosted by food and travel writer Delaney Mes.
Walking to dessert means you get to enjoy the sweet things in life as well as great health and fitness!
Making our way through the developing laneways and shared spaces of Auckland’s city centre, you’ll enjoy some of the best desserts Auckland has to offer, while learning about changes in our city centre that will make it more walking friendly. You’ll see how it’s becoming more convenient and enjoyable to get around on foot so we can all enjoy the sweeter things in life as well as better health.
We'll start with ice cream genius Giapo. This little store on Queen Street has developed a cult following, and the ice cream is made fresh each day with local ingredients and endless wacky accompaniments. We'll take a break at the iconic Hotel DeBrett for a palate cleansing champagne cocktail, before heading to Fort St for a chocolate treat at Brian Campbell's Miann, and finishing in Britomart at Hip Group's Milse.
The dessert degustation walking tour starts at Aotea Square and ends near Britomart. You will cover approximately 2.5km over the course of the evening at an easy pace, with four stops along the way.
Cake Walk is part of Restaurant Month in the Heart of the City 2016.
