The Social Kitchen™ Theatre by Fisher & Paykel takes Restaurant Month to the streets, with an unmissable series of pop-up experiences at Britomart’s Takutai Square. 

No matter what your cooking style – an Eager Novice, Weekend Gourmet or a Perfectionist – you’ll get your fill of fresh ideas and delicious cuisine in this premium café-style space. The line-up of the city’s most exciting chefs and foodies and clever culinary experiences will inspire you to think and talk about food, cooking and the kitchen in new ways. 

Hosted by food writer, stylist and photographer Kelly Gibney (Bonnie Delicious), with interactive demos and complimentary samples, insider tips and spot prizes, the Social Kitchen™ Theatre is guaranteed to be a highlight of Restaurant Month. FRIDAY

10am PAUL CARMICHAEL MASTERCLASS, MOMOFUKU SEIŌBO (SYD) $80
  Internationally acclaimed executive chef from New York’s Momofuku and now Sydney’s Momofuku Seiobo, Paul Carmichael, presents a 90 minute masterclass focusing on what he learnt from his mother growing up in Barbados. Enjoy an opportunity to hear about life at Momofuku, get to know Paul and try some of his dishes along with delicious matching wines.   
1pm SCRATCH BAKERY MASTERCLASS WITH JONNY MCKESSAR $30
  Handcrafted, delicious baked products is the philosophy behind Scratch Bakery. Join them for a masterclass in how to make that Gourmet Pie you’ve been dreaming of – from scratch. A hands on demonstration on how to roll the perfect pastry and bake that perfect pie.   
4pm FOOD & WINE MATCHING WITH OSTRO BRASSERIE & BAR $30
  Enjoy a 30minute demonstration matching wines to dishes designed by the team at Ostro. Take an opportunity to learn about matching wines with some of the hottest new dishes. Try Seared Tuna, Snapper Cerviche, Roast Duck Ravioli and Savannah Eye Fillet with delicious matching wines.  
7pm KYLE STREET MASTERCLASS $60
  For the past 5 years Kyle has been at the helm of the Depot & Federal Delicatessen kitchens, but this year he will be bringing something new and exciting to Restaurant Month in the Heart of the City. Chef and co-owner, Kyle Street’s new restaurant Culprit, will be joining the dining scene later this year with a fresh new dining concept. Join Kyle and his team for a 90 minute demonstration and one-off sneak preview of some dishes he’s been perfecting for his new venture. Enjoy Trevally Kokonda with Tomato Jelly & Avocado, Duck Confit & Roast Squash Ravioli, Roast Beef with Yorkies, Greens & Fancy Bearnaise and much more all with matching wines.   
9pm COCKTAILS IN THE KITCHEN WITH CAMERON ATTFIELD, THE LOBBY/GIN ROOM $25
  Join one of Auckland City’s most skilled mixologists, Cameron Attfield, in a 30minute demonstration on how to match cocktails to food. Enjoy an opportunity to taste some of Cameron’s most recent creations and learn to how a simple cocktail can be an amazing accompaniment to any dish.  


SATURDAY

12pm GARETH STEWART MASTERCLASS, EURO $60
  Executive Chef of Euro Restaurant and previous host of My Kitchen Rules NZ, Gareth Stewart, presents some of his favourite dishes in this 90-minute masterclass. Enjoy an intimate session hearing about Gareth’s experience in running some of the top restaurants in New Zealand (Gareth is in charge of the menus for all 10 of the kitchens in the Nourish Group).  Enjoy this opportunity to discover what it is like in the fast paced New Zealand restaurant business. Tasting dishes included with wines to match.  
2pm MASTERCLASS WITH MICHAEL DEARTH FROM THE GROVE & CLIVE DOUGLAS FROM SERESIN ESTATE $60
  Take a masterclass in natural food and biodynamic wines with top restaurateur of The Grove Michael Dearth, and organic wine producer Seresin Estate. Learn how growing grapes and producing wine naturally does not mean a compromise in quality and why the perfect match to these wines is always wild and natural foods. This menu is one not to be missed! During the afternoon enjoy Octopus Ramen with Waterfall bay clams, Salmon tartar, Scampi Agnolotti with New Zealand black truffle, Terrine of roasted rabbits followed by Chocolate Pave with porcini caramel for dessert. All dishes are accompanied by organic wines from Seresin Estate.   
5pm MEGAN MAY MASTERCLASS, THE UNBAKERIES $60
  Megan May will take you through a 90 min fine dining raw organic food experience - showing you that sustainable plant based food is the future. You will see how to make and taste some her favourite dishes from cold pressed cocktails to a sumptuous chocolate desert, all made without gluten, dairy and refined sugars.  Megan is the creator of Little Bird Organics, the award winning Unbakery cafes and bestselling author of The Unbakery cookbook and recipe App. Enjoy an amazing plant based feast - think cold pressed cocktails, coconut dumplings in a ginger broth and an insane raw cacao & white chocolate molten cake with resiling gel and berries.   
7pm WINTER WINE AND FOOD MATCHING WITH PILKINGTONS  $25
  How to stay warm this winter - Have Lynn Wilson and Jarrod McGregor from Auckland City bistro Pilkingtons, teach you what food and wines during the cold winter months will nourish and warm you up from the inside out. Enjoy a delicious menu including Chowder, Duck and egg anchovy, Smoked Broadbill with buttered radicchio, Braised Beef Cheek, Scotch & mushrooms accompanied by a selection of excellent reds and delicious mulled wine with dessert!  
8pm ICE CREAM MASTERCLASS WITH GIAPO GRAZIOLI FROM GIAPO - SOLD OUT! $40
  Learn how Giapo Grazioli transforms the most popular dessert in the world into something fashionable and artistic. He’ll teach you how to pay attention to the smallest of details: textures, flavours, smells to truly appreciate the art of wonderful ice cream making.  


SUNDAY

12pm JASON VAN DORSTEN MASTERCLASS, CAFÉ HANOI $60
  Join executive chef of Metro top 50 heavyweight Cafe Hanoi, Jason Van Dorsten, for a 90-minute masterclass exploring and tasting the beauty of South East Asian cuisine. Watch Jason demonstrate how to make some of his favourite dishes, take an opportunity to discuss his take on modern food and enjoy a chance to taste his food, all accompanied by a matching wine. Enjoy a selection of canapes on arrival followed by Turmeric fried fish, Crispy fried pancake with pork belly and shrimp, Soy Peppercorn Tofu and Sauté Asian greens with garlic & chilli.    
2pm CRAFT BEER & HOME-CURED MEATS WITH SWEAT SHOP BREW KITCHEN $25
  Spend a Sunday afternoon indulging in a home cured meat and craft beer matching session, with the multi skilled masters of meat from Sweat Shop Brew. Learn the secret to successfully home curing your meat while matching them to some of New Zealand’s top craft beers.  
4pm THE CAKER MASTERCLASS - SOLD OUT! $40
  Join Jordan Rondel, aka The Caker, for an evening of cake baking and decorating as she shares two of her favourite recipes with you. Start with a demonstration, then enjoy a hands on interactive session icing your own with guidance from the queen of cakes herself. All topped off with a glass of bubbles on arrival.
