This Waka Experience offers a unique two hour cultural and sailing experience on board Te Matau a Māui a traditional Polynesian designed sailing waka. Enjoy the beauty of Hawke Bay, and the hospitality of the crew as they take you on a journey back in time. Hear stories of local Māori history and legend, learn place names, areas of cultural significance and life for local Māori pre 1931. While on board you will be served a delicious selection of tasting platters inspired by indigenous cuisine and Hawke’s Bay’s finest produce.
On Fri 19 Feb Waka Experience also offers you the unique opportunity to view the Brebner Print Memorial Flying Display on board Te Matau a Māui. Meet 10 minutes before departure time water side 32 West Quay, Ahuriri, Napier. Bring a warm jacket, sunscreen, sunhat and have a comfortable pair of shoes on hand.
