It's time we talked.
The impact of pronography on young people.
Maree Crabbe: Project Coordinator
International speaker and author Maree Crabbe has worked with young people in the community sector since 1993. Maree has published articles on young people, sexuality and pornography in online and print media. Maree makes the vital point that it’s ‘time we talked’ about porn and the unchartered territories we are now entering, in the age of easy access internet porn. 90% of boys have seen online porn and 60% of girls.
Young people are literally 3 clicks away from images and scenes of aggression, control and humiliation, particularly directed at female performers – bodies that aren’t the norm – and sexual acts of all descriptions. All of these can distort the way our young people come to understand the role of sex in relationships and how they objectify each other. This is an evening for parents, carers, educators and mentors of young people.
