Standing up for a belief, declaring a dream out loud, dealing with change, seeking advice, providing feedback, having to be confident in a sticky situation...

Courageous Conversations is about how our speakers tackled a ‘courageous conversation’ in their own unique way.

      Courageous Conversations Speaker Bios:

LANA WEST: HEAD OF DIVERSITY & INCLUSION, BNZ

Lana West is proud of her heritage as a Kiwi Samoan. Growing up in Auckland, she describes herself as part-islander, part-mainlander acknowledging her Samoan father and her mother from Dunedin.
The 10th of 11 children in her family, her life has been firmly focused on family, respect and living in a way that shows courage, strength and humility.

Lana always thought she would follow her parents into the medical field, but instead embarked on a career in banking and human resources. Having worked in NZ, Australia and Samoa, Lana has a unique perspective to share that will intrigue all.

      MAISY BENTLEY: GIRLBOSS

GirlBoss was founded with one key mission - to inspire, empower and equip New Zealand girls to become the changemakers of the future. With this in mind, Maisy is already a published playwright, secretary and founding board member of a charity ‘Kai for Kids’, Girl Boss Aotea President, and a UN Youth High School Ambassador.

Maisy is fervent about working with and for youth, debating, mooting and the law as well as a love for creative arts, and fashion. With significant achievements under her belt as a 17 year old and firsthand experience of overcoming some of the momentous challenges faced by many young women today, Maisy believes everyone, particularly young people, can flourish and create a better world by being challengers and doers. Be prepared to be ignited by Masiy!
