Join Hawke’s Bay historian and author Michael Fowler for a guided Art Deco tour around the Hastings CBD, which is 20 minutes from Napier. The tour views striking examples of Art Deco, Spanish Mission, and Stripped Classical buildings that Hastings built before and after the 1931 Hawke’s Bay Earthquake.
Included as part of the tour is some of Hastings social history and significant information on how the 1931 Hawke’s Bay Earthquake affected Hastings – with some “earthquake scars” still remaining from 1931. The walk takes around one hour 15 minutes.
Tours depart from the Hastings i-site, on the corner of Russell and Heretaunga Streets, Hastings.
