He Poa Ata – Māori Art Deco 

Enjoy a cooked breakfast while Māori art lecturer, Chris Bryant-Toi, and the crew of local sailing waka, Te Matau a Māui, consider cultural and historical contexts that gave rise to Māori art deco.

The presentation will explore Polynesian waka migration, Māori and Pākeha relationships, the effects of the 1931 Earthquake to the reconstruction of modern Ahuriri – Napier City.
