Ruminations is a direct response to our current situation growing up in NZ. Our main character (simply ‘Boy’) is a product of his environment. We follow him in his journey to try and make sense of the crazy whirlwind of life that surrounds him. From school, parents, siblings, clothes, food and his health – nothing seems to be going right. But it’s hard to escape when there is nowhere else to go. 

Simple Truth Theatre makes theatre about our Aotearoa. This is the New Zealand we live in. This is our culture, good and bad. We see it as our job as theatre practitioners to live, reflect, and create. To shine a light on both the positive and negative parts of our community.
