Celebrated NZ pianist, Michael Houstoun, plays J.S. Bach’s complete Well-Tempered Clavier in two concerts.
Bach’s ‘48’ is often regarded as the ‘Old Testament’ of Keyboard Music (with Beethoven’s 32 Piano Sonatas the ‘New Testament’). These concerts are a rare opportunity for music-lovers to hear this sublime music live in concert, performed by NZ’s best-known pianist.
On Sunday 21st May there will also be an opportunity for the students, teachers and the general public to explore the music of Bach in more detail through masterclasses (for both advanced and beginning to intermediate-level students) and workshops.
This event is a collaboration between the Institute of Registered Music Teachers of NZ (Auckland Branch) and the University of Auckland School of Music.
*Saturday Night's performance of Book 1 of the Well-Tempered Clavier will be preceded by pre-concert talk by Peter Watts: “Inspiration and Perspiration for composer and performer in Bach’s Well-tempered Clavier” This talk to start at 6:15pm
PLEASE NOTE:
We strongly advise you to book online as limited door sales will only be available if not sold out prior.
