New Zealand / 2016 / 60min / English / Harley Williams

Devil in the Parlour is a documentary about New Zealand’s very own travelling troubadour Delaney Davidson; loop maestro, noir protagonist, promotional coyote and production svengali. See the endless touring of musician Delaney Davidson throughout Europe and the USA. Featuring live tour footage with his Ghost Orchestra at the iconic Wunderbar in Lyttelton and incidental unreleased music, written on the road which has, until now, been stored in Delaney’s deep, dark vaults. Throughout the film we get insights into his creative process, his songwriting habits and inspirations, and his view of the world with its quirks and human foibles. Delaney’s wry sense of humour and his theatre of unease are a feature though the film. Director and editor, Harley Williams used mostly Delaney's footage humbly shot on his iPhone whilst touring the world to help fuse the story together.
