About The Hundertwasser Art Centre and Wairau Maori Art Gallery

This impressive community-lead passion-project to build what will be the last authentic Hundertwasser building in the world, is being driven by a dedicated group of volunteers aiming to raise the referendum requirement of $16.25 million plus a $2 million underwrite by June 30, 2017.

Total amount raised to *date is $14,838,080 with ONLY 52 days to go! (*as of Monday May 8th, 2017).

The building itself will be a stunning artwork on a grand scale. Once built it will be a wakahuia, a treasure box of original Hunsdertwasser artworks provided from the collection in Vienna and exemplary works from renowned contemporary Maori artists. The Wairau Maori Art Art Gallery will be the world’s first gallery dedicated solely to Contemporary Maori Art.
