Join New Zealand's best-known Master of Wine, Bob Campbell MW as he explores the unique and distinct wines from Marlborough at 12 exclusive masterclasses during Taste of Auckland.

We'll be exploring what makes the wines of Marlborough a global phenomenon. Like any great wine, the magic starts at the beginning with the climate, the soil and the people making Marlborough one of the most famous wine regions in the world.

These masterclasses are only available to Taste of Auckland ticket holders and are only during the session times listed below.

Within each masterclass you'll receive four wines to taste and be educated by Bob Campbell MW and a top winemaker from Marlborough. Each masterclass session will last approximately 45 minutes. Glasses will be provided and more detail on each session are within the ticket information. R18 only.

Co-hosted with Liam McElhinney from Te Pa Wines, Bob and Liam will explore our regional wine treasure, Sauvignon Blanc and discuss what it's future will look like in years to come. You'll explore and taste four different wines from Marlborough in this informative 45 minute masterclass.

Ever wondered why Marlborough is one of the best places to grow grapes in the world? Join Bob and Bruce Taylor from Tohu Wines who will explore the love of the Marlborough land and it's people. For 45 minutes you'll taste four different wines from Marlborough and learn what it means to create a world class wine from Marlborough, the driving force of New Zealand's wine industry.

Friday 17 November 2017 - 12:30pm, Organics: we'll give you the dirt
Ever wondered what it takes to produce stunning organic wines? Join Bob and Clive Dougall, winemaker for Seresin Estate who are one of the most respected wine brands within the organic wine scene to talk all things green and organic. For 45 minutes you'll get to taste and learn about four organic wines from Marlborough.

Friday 17 November 2017 - 3:00pm, Rosé: Style style style
Now a global phenomenon, Rosé can be sexy, sultry and downright sensational. Lucky for you, we've got one of the best rosé producers in the country, Dave Clouston of Two Rivers Wines and Bob who'll talk you through the different shades of this delicious and ambitious pink wine. For 45 minutes you'll be treated to four different rosé wines to taste all from Marlborough.

Friday 17 November 2017 - 6:00pm, Personality and winemaking: creating a different approach
Do people shape wines? Speak to anyone in the wine industry and they'll agree that it sure does. Co-hosted with Bob and the one and only Andrew Hedley from Framingham Wines, this masterclass will explore the people, the personalities and the rewards for taking a different approach to wine. For 45 minutes you'll be given four different wines from Marlborough to explore, taste and talk about.

Friday 17 November 2017 - 7:30pm, No taste like mine: single vineyard sites
Tūrangawaewae - Maori for 'a place to stand, our place in the world, our home'. Immerse yourself in the sense of place and what it means to feel a sense of home within one single site. This session will be co-hosted by Ben Glover of family owned Zephyr Wines who'll explore the reason wines from a single place are so important. For 45 minutes you'll taste four different wines all from single vineyards around Marlborough.  

Saturday 18 November 2017 - 1:00pm, Aromatics: spice and all things nice
Sauvignon and Pinot might rule the roost of New Zealand's wine reputation but new emerging, lesser known aromatic varieties are this countries next discovery. Join Bob and Spy Valley's winemaker, Emily Gaspard who'll talk what aromatics mean in wine and the interesting wines you might learn to love. For 45 minutes you'll explore four different varietals from Marlborough, if you like salt, sugar, spice within your wine, this one is not to be missed.

Saturday 18 November 2017 - 3:00pm, Pinot Noir: from the hills and the flats
When it comes to New Zealand Pinot Noir, Marlborough HAS to be on the top of your shopping list. Marlborough is fast becoming the home for the best Pinot Noir (but don't tell our friends down in Central). Wanna know why? Join Bob and Ruud Maasdam of Staete Landt Wines who'll explore this great red varietal from the top of the south. For 45 minutes you'll explore four different wines from Marlborough with Bob and Ruud.

Saturday 18 November 2017 - 6:00pm, Sub-regions, knowing our patchwork
Southern Valleys, Wairau Valley and the Awatere Valley. Speak to anyone from Marlborough and they'll tell you we aren't a one size fits all of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Co-hosted by Spy Valley's winemaker, Emily Gaspard and Bruce Taylor of Tohu Wines, you'll learn the differences between the sub-regions and the wines produced. For 45 minutes you'll be able to taste a wine from each sub-region and learn more about the patchwork of Marlborough.

Saturday 18 November 2017 - 7:30pm, Cellaring Sauvignon
Heard the myth that Marlborough Sauvignon doesn't age? Co-hosted by Andrew Hedley of Framingham Wines and Ben Glover from Zephyr Wines, these two will tear that myth apart and convince you to start buying up Sauvignon to cellar. During this 45 minute session we'll explore four different aged Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs for you taste and enjoy.
