This event has probably been and gone!
Auckland Youth Choir under the direction of Lachlan Craig invites you to take a trip with us down memory lane, back to your childhood: a world of simple joys, irrepressible excitement and open-mouthed awe.
The first half of the concert is filled with humour and the absurd, including quirky portrayals of various animals, a wry look at young love, and NZ composer Andrew Baldwin's setting of Roald Dahl's satirical nursery rhymes. After the interval, we turn to music featured in children's films. You'll hear some of cinema's best-loved songs as solos and duets sung by members of the choir, as well as full-choir works, most notably the premiere of Baldwin's voluminous arrangement of 'If I Had Words' from 'Babe'.
The Auckland Youth Choir prides itself on welcoming singers from all walks of life. This concert has been a special team effort - you'll see the design work of our engineering students, the dramatic talents of our actors, and the technological skill behind media and production. We've loved putting it together, and we can't wait for you to come and experience this artistic spectacle - it's not just music; it's a place of fantasy and imagination, somewhere all adults and children should escape to every now and then.
Premium ticket buyers have exclusive access to table seating, drinks and nibbles. A light supper will also be available after the concert for all ticket holders. You will have the opportunity to chat with the performers, or simply enjoy the post-concert buzz.
Premium seating at tables includes complimentary refreshments.
General seating is general admission located throughout the rest of the Church.
