This event has probably been and gone!
Seafest is for those who enjoy good food, good company and a good time.
Kaikoura has welcomed 'Seafesters' every October to establish itself as one of the original festivals on the New Zealand festival circuit. Anyone who hosts a festival for 23 years in a row enjoys what they do!
The Big Top Bash kick starts Seafest as a pre-festival party with 3 party bands.
Seafest celebrates life by the sea with festival vendors offering abundant seafood delights, fantastic choices for Landlubbers, Classic Pimms, craft beer and regional wines.
Sea themed costumes are a must. If you don’t see yourself as a sea creature – a super hero will do.
Kaikoura is all about crayfish, and fish. We are a fishing town after all.
You also find some of the most breath taking scenery in the country with a stunning coastline. Our latest claim to fame is we now have the newest coastline in NZ! Even a new surf beach right in town.
Kaikoura is an unforgettable location for some of NZ’s best eco-tourism experiences, fascinating Maori & European histories along with relaxing and exhilarating land activities. Take a little extra time to explore as we have it all!

Seafest has become known as a festival that meets and greets the elements – no matter what is thrown at it. A huge centre marquee means revellers can enjoy the day and shelter from sun, rain, hail or snow. And we have had it all! If the event is cancelled by the organisers, tickets are fully refundable… but SEAFEST IS AN ALL WEATHER EVENT!
The NZ Dollar is the Seafest currency. Eftpos facilities are available at the Bank tent on festival day.
