The famous storm that opens Shakespeare’s play The Tempest has been conjured by Prospero whose enemies are on board the vessel caught in the wind and tumultuous seas. In Love’s Labour’s Lost three men pledge to deny themselves the company of women only to be undone by loves intoxication.
Tempests of the heart and of the elements are powerfully present in these two plays which make up the Shakespeare season at Unitec 2018. Paul Gittins will direct The Tempest and Rita Stone Love’s Labour’s Lost.
The students performing the works are in their third and final year of study and the design of costume and lights is also done by third year production students. A highlight in the Unitec calendar sees Shakespeare performed with industry based directors, high standards of production and the passion and newly acquired skills of passionate young actors.
