The 2018 NZ Country Music Awards are a National event showcasing NZ’s top song writers in live performances for the top ten finalists for the MLT NZ Songwriters Award / finalists for the APRA Best Country Music Song Award / finalists for the Recorded Music NZ Best Country Artist award.  This gala evening looks into the furture of NZ Music and recognizes the Best in Country Music.

SPECIAL GUEST ARTISTS this year are The NUKES: Rollicking and rolling out of the woolliest corners of Auckland’s wild west come The Nukes. Fast gaining a growing reputation for reckless and riveting live performances where a fine blend of folk, bluegrass, reggae and post punk is caressed, coaxed and beaten out of three innocent wee ukuleles – Dave “Fingers of fire” Parker, David “Snapper” Thiele and Benjamin “Country boy” Collier, make up this captivating band of three.

"a fine blend of folk, bluegrass, reggae and post punk is caressed, coaxed and beaten out of three innocent wee ukuleles..."

Originally formed at the 2008 Titirangi Festival of Music in West Auckland, the band have produced two studio albums to date and are currently working on their third, due out March 2017.  All songs are unique to The Nukes with the trio writing and performing all their own tunes.

The Nukes have toured extensively throughout New Zealand and parts of Australia sharing their quirky brand of ukulele brilliance, three part vocal harmonies, blistering riffs, riotous rhythms and questionable dance moves.

Audiences have been seduced by the music, slayed by the humour and scandalized by the scat.

Ticket includes pre-show refereshments from 7:15pm and exclusive entry into the after-party at Thomas Green.
