THE MIGHTY MOSQUITO TO RETURN TO AUCKLAND SKIES

75,000-man hour’s restoration work and counting, PZ474 a British built de Havilland DH98 Mosquito is set to fly over Auckland skies once again. She will be only the fourth airworthy example of its kind in the world, three of which having been remarkably restored here at Ardmore, Auckland by the team of craftsmen at Avspecs Ltd.  She is now owned and being restored for Rod Lewis of San Antonio, Texas.

Trish Reynolds, General Manager of New Zealand Warbirds Association says “We are thrilled that the newly restored de Havilland Mosquito will be making an appearance at our Armistice Open Day on Sunday 18 November 2018. The quality of the restoration work is absolutely incredible, and we know she will be a major drawcard for the day.  Although not cleared to fly just yet, we are hoping she will be able to fire up both her Merlin engines and taxy around, providing a thrill for all of those spectators and enthusiasts alike.”

You’ll have to come along to the Open Day to see the finished Mosquito in her new paint scheme and all her glory – she looks magnificent!
