Fonterra presents
Back again for 2018, some Fonterra farmers are opening their gates so New Zealanders have the opportunity to go on farm, learn about how Fonterra farmers care for our environment and what happens on a dairy farm.
This year, Duncan and Anne-Marie would like to invite you to visit Huntly Road Dairies near Dunedin.
Since purchasing the property seven years ago, Duncan and Anne-Marie have completely redeveloped the farm with a focus on protecting the environment, building a new rotary milking shed and installing a new effluent system. Along with their three children Aidan (9), Liam (8) and Hannah (6), they run the farm with their staff Shae, Joel and Harm. Duncan has a stong history of dairy farming, but Anne-Marie was raised as a city girl in the UK. When the couple met in India, Anne-Marie was scared of animals, but because Duncan couldn’t move his cows to the UK she had no choice but to embrace farming.
Duncan’s farming knowledge and Anne-Marie’s business background are the perfect combination, producing a well-run dairy farming operation, milking 650 cows on the 210-hectare property.
