Back again for 2018, some Fonterra farmers are opening their gates so New Zealanders have the opportunity to go on farm, learn about how Fonterra farmers care for our environment and what happens on a dairy farm.
Just an hour’s drive from the capital, Kaiwaiwai Dairies is home to 900 cows, supplying fresh milk all year round. It’s a farm run on a simple motto - be good to people, animals and the environment, and they will treat you well. This community-led approach to farming is evident on-farm, with large wetland management and greenhouse gas emission projects underway to protect local flora and fauna. Keen to find out more? Come visit and get involved. If you’re lucky, you might even get to see a cow being milked.
