SGCNZ presents Primarily Playing with Shakespeare 2018 : Much Ado About Nothing
Children loving Shakespeare? Yes, it’s true! To prove it, Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand (SGCNZ) has had to extend its Primarily Playing with Shakespeare performances this year to two days. Tackling the hour long, judiciously edited version of Much Ado About Nothing, is delighting the 5 – 12 year olds from schools throughout the region.
Under the mentoring of SGCNZ appointed Co/Director with the Teacher in Charge in each school, Sarah Burton is giving overall guidance. One or two scenes from the abridged play have been allocated to the participating schools, with the only theming being with a same coloured garment to identify each character.
The students all meet for the first time on the morning of their performance, have a practice of their specially created Jig, do one sequential run, and then perform to the public at lunchtime the same day.
