Showcase 2018 is nearly here, pairing the best contemporary choreographers with NZ’s brightest dance students to deliver the high quality contemporary dance experience that our audiences have come to enjoy.

We are pleased to welcome home exceptional Unitec Dance Alumni Bianca Hyslop, Jessie McCall, and Eddie Elliott. Bianca will work with the full cohort of students to activate the space and welcome our audience into it, while Jessie will develop a challenging new work for Unitec’s Year 1 dancers. Eddie has worked with a select group of students earlier to present ‘Intuition’ a vibrant and intriguing new work by an emerging choreographic talent.

Returning to us via Edinburgh, Dancer/Choreographer Tamsyn Russell will work her magic with Unitec’s Year 2 cohort. Tamsyn’s prolific career includes dancing for renowned choreographers Michael Parmenter (NZ), Janis Claxton (SCD) and producing her own acclaimed work including ‘Go Get 'em Kid’, and ‘Scene Stealer’.

Following a successful season of the powerful ‘Orchids’ and the premiere of new works by Footnote NZ and The Royal New Zealand Ballet, Sarah Foster-Sproull will create exciting new work on Unitec’s graduating class of 2018. Sarah brings with her a wealth of experience from all corners of the dance industry and is the current CNZ choreographic fellow. We are really excited to have Sarah on board.

This year we are also pleased to welcome the return of IDCO company director Joshua Cesan who will showcase his award-winning brand of Hip-Hop, and students from Unitec’s new co-delivered programme with Beijing Dance Academy will present a new work created for them by NZ dance icon Michael Parmenter.
