Our poor wee brains get put through a lot, and sometimes they put us through a lot. Such magical things, but sometimes it feels like they just stop playing the game, or that they’ve decided to play for the other team (rude!) or have just gone and thrown out the rulebook! This October, as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, speakers Vanessa Crofskey, Logan Joblin and Keith Paterson are bringing you gentle tales of exactly that. Three glorious stories of when their brains just dropped the ball and threw them right into the deep end.
Issue #51 is hosted by the ever-hilarious Donna Brookbanks, cat lover, comedian, actor and one of the pioneers of hit weekly improv show Snort. You might also know her from her work on Funny Girls, Jono and Ben and Shortland Street.
Inspired by many well-known storytelling events held worldwide (The Moth, This American Life), The Watercooler is a platform for people from all walks to tell stories both true and imagined. Storytellers are given a simple brief to share a story inspired by the month’s theme, whether based on real-life experiences or entirely fictional.
