Broadway Junior Collection ®

Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Book by James Lapine

Originally directed on Broadway by James Lapine

Once upon a time, in a far-off Kingdom, lived a young maiden, a sad young lad and a childless Baker with his wife…..

Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairy-tale comes to life in this junior version of their musical INTO THE WOODS. We meet everyone’s favourite fairy-tale characters – Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Jack with his beloved cow and of course in a fairy-tale there has to be a witch!

The story centres around the Baker and his wife who dearly want a child of their own but because of the witch’s curse they are unable to.  The witch tells them that she will reverse the curse if within three days they bring her four special items - a slipper as pure as gold, a cloak as red as blood, a cow as white as milk and hair as yellow as corn - and so they set off on their search. They meet up with Cinderella and Jack with his cow. As they all go further and further into the woods they meet up with Little Red and the Wolf, Rapunzel, two lovelorn Princes and Jack’s Giant, who descends the beanstalk to threaten them all! By the end of the story their lives have been changed for ever!

With a cast of youngsters between the ages of 10 and 18 years, this is a real family show – something for all ages!
