From Japanese mountains to New Zealand shores, experience the journey of taiko.
Taiko is the art of Japanese ensemble drumming, evolved from ancient traditions and infused with modern jazz and cross-cultural influences.
Come join us in celebrating the journey that is Narukami Taiko. From one woman's dream of unity, inclusiveness, and the desire to just play drums with friends, to Wellington’s largest performance taiko team. Named after the Japanese god of thunder and lightning Narukami is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Our path is one small part of the larger taiko journey through the centuries and around the world. This concert is a celebration of our team's past, present and future. It's a showcase of the taiko spirit that reaches out and grabs you with the sound of drums.
