      The Pettman Ensemble

The Pettman Ensemble is a flexible touring group of musicians from New Zealand and Australia dedicated to performing chamber music from early classical repertoire to music of today. Its core members are Michael Endres (piano), Uwe Grodd (flute), Curt Thompson (violin) and Edith Salzmann (cello). Australasia’s most talented young artists will join the ensemble to perform music for larger groups.

Last year the Pettman Ensemble performed in the United Kingdom. Based at the time in the Pettman National Junior Academy, the tour opened with a lunchtime concert series at St. John Smith’s Square, London.

The Thoroughly Good Blog of Classical Music called these performances “a ravishing treat”, adding that “Schumann’s Piano Quintet was a glorious ebullient affair throughout”.

Other performances included the University of Glasgow’s concert series with Opera North in Beverley and for the Royal Over-Seas League in London. The BBC website and Radio 3’s InTune series featured the ensemble’s performances during the tour. The group also held concerts in Spain and New Zealand.

This year is proving to be even moreexciting, with recording plans for a series of Naxos CDs well underway and an international concert season beginning in Auckland in March.
