3D printing is cool and hip - but why do it? What's worth 3D printing? How could and should we use it?

Up until recently, 3D printers were exclusive only to large corporations. Now, we can all get our hands on 3D printers! The YMCA has opened a technology centre – the 4C Centre – created specifically for and providing FREE access for young people to the latest technology.

Get started on your own 3D printing journey with Amelia Diggle, from Human Interface Jewellery. Amelia will share the tricks and tips of all things 3D! From her experience designing and running HI Jewellery - NZ's newest tech-inspired 3D printed jewellery business! She's tested 3D printers from all over the world and made all the mistakes (so you don't have too!).

During the 2 hour workshop you'll be introduced to the 3D-printing basics:

  1. Learn how to design 3D things - top tips, tricks and ideas for thinking in 3D!
  2. Introduction to 3D modelling - CAD
  3. 3D printing in action! How a 3D printer works - types of printers and materials.

Optional: please feel free to bring your own laptop, the YMCA C4 Tech space has 7 available if you do not have one.
