Improving Scabies Treatment: A Path To Health Equity In New Zealand?
Scabies has been left off the public health and research radar in New Zealand for some time. Yet in Australia and the Pacific, links between scabies, impetigo, kidney disease and bacterial skin infection have been widely known and explored. Scabies and rheumatic fever are strongly linked in Auckland children. Prescribing data and small clinical studies suggest scabies is common in New Zealand and the diagnosis is frequently missed.
