Waiheke has an ongoing housing crisis; we have all heard the horror stories.. people having to move time and time again, being asked to leave for 8 weeks for the summer holiday season, living in cold, dark, damp less than habitable housing, camping on friends sections, paying through the nose.
Kylee Mathews and Kathy Voyles have met so many good people who are finding it really really tough so decided to bring this ongoing housing crisis out into the open, to be discussed by a panel moderated by Green MP Chloe Swarbrick, with panelists on the frontline of the Waiheke and Auckland housing Crisis. Pastor Wiremu Te Taniwha from Living Waters, Helen White, Auckland Central Labour Party Spokesperson, Paul Carew of The Waiheke Community Housing Trust, Amelia Lawley of Waiheke Budgeting Services, Kerrin Leoni City Vision candidate for the Auckland Area Health Board.
The evening will start with your ideas and solutions, some zero waste nibbles, and Tanya Batt’s version of The Three Little Waiheke Pigs. There will be raffles so bring some cash!
Any profits will be divided between the Community Housing Trust and Living Waters Emergency Housing.
