Mairi Campbell presents Mairi Campbell: Pulse, her one-woman music theatre
show, co-devised and directed by Kath Burlinson of the Authentic Artist Collective.

Blending viola, voice, movement, animation and storytelling, Pulse
weaves together Campbell’s coming-of-age tale, where profound encounters
with music and love change the course of her life, with the true story
of how she found her musical ‘pulse’.  After frustrating and funny
detours to music college and Mexican orchestras, Campbell makes a visit
to Cape Breton which sends her home with a spring in her step. Delivered
with trademark wit, gentle charm and unparalleled musical ability,
Pulse, is a show that resonates with universal truths.

With original music by Mairi Campbell and Dave Gray as featured in the album Pulse.

The show is touching, funny and potent. A significant development in
Mairi’s artistry, it is performed with power, commitment and energy.

Pulse was showcased in Edinburgh in June 2015 and at Celtic
Connections in January 2016. In August 2016, the show ran for a full
month at the Fringe to great critical and audience feedback. Most
recently, Mairi has toured the show around Scotland and has taken it to
        London’s Vault Festival.

“Bare and unabashed honesty… by the end of ‘Pulse’ you’ll feel transformed”
        Three Weeks

“A consummate musician, Mairi Campbell in her one-woman show Pulse reveals her formidable acting
and storytelling talents as she explores the very essence of what it is
to be a musician in this thought-provoking and moving journey”

        Susan Nickalls, music critic

“A feast for the mind, as
well as the eyes and ears. Challenging and inspiring. Made me want to
dance (and I almost never dance!) and take up the fiddle again”
Richard Medrington, Puppet State Theatre Company

“Subtle and evocative…a story with local and global resonance”
        All Edinburgh Theatre.com

        “a mesmerising performer with
such a gift for accents and physical comedy that it’s easy to forget
her main job is folk musician”
        Andrew Eaton-Lewis, the Scotsman

“There is no doubting Summerhall has a gem in Mairi Campbell’s show”
