Our Wairarapa Terroirs series continues on August 12 with a very special dinner celebrating the wines of Ata Rangi. One of the first vineyards established near Martinborough, Ata Rangi is now among New Zealand’s premier producers.  In 2010 it was honoured with the inaugural Tipuranga Teitei o Aotearoa or “Grand Cru of New Zealand.”

The seven course tasting menu dinner will feature a six-wine progression devised by Ata Rangi head winemaker Helen Masters.

Named Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine’s New Zealand Winemaker of the Year in 2019, Helen has been at Ata Rangi since 2003, working closely with founder Clive Paton and his team to make wines that are reflective of terroir and season, each encapsulating their unique place and time. Helen’s pairings for the glass x Ata Rangi dinner will feature rare gems and treasures from their personal cellar.

Helen will join us for dinner to discuss the wines and tell Ata Rangi’s story, one not just of outstanding winemaking but a commitment to sustainability and conservation.

Continuing the theme of our Wairarapa Terroirs series, glass head chef Romesh Dissanayake has developed a seven-course dinner inspired by Ata Rangi’s terroir and wines and based on the best produce from the region. Romesh’s influences are multifaceted, sometimes quirky, playful and understated, and inspired by the cultural life of our great little cosmopolitan city. At the core of his cooking is great produce, fishers, farmers and artisans.

Ticket price includes all food and wine matches for the evening.
