Next to Normal

Next to Normal (styled as next to normal) is a 2008 American rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. A powerful story that centers around a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family. The musical addresses grief, depression, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and the underbelly of suburban life.

This musical offers a lot of comedy, powerhouse vocals, an emotional rollercoaster that you can’t help but invest in. It is the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize for Drama and has also won multiple Tony awards including best original score.
