This upcoming Pride Festival season The Others Club is set to deliver a spectacular theatrical collaboration from creatives across the LGBTQIA+ community with Take The Crown. A devised piece of theatre featuring 5 brilliant queer performers, embark with us on a journey to land full of adventure and accountability. A queer celebration filled with pop hits and public callouts, this show is loud, unapologetic, angry and divine.

Take The Crown explores the efforts queer people have to go to, to make sure they have space to exist, interrogating ideas of privilege and power and examining and challenging the appropriation of queer culture by straight people.

We will be taking names, snatching wigs, and organising a revolution.

This event was made possible through the Pride & Spark Empowerment Initiative, and proudly supported by the Waitemata Local Board and the Rule Foundation.

The concept was workshopped with Red Leap Theatre Company in 2018 and an excerpt of piece just finished an award winning run at the Short and Sweet Festival 2019. (Best Actor, Best Writer).

Due to roadworks on Mayoral Drive this Tuesday 11 Feb to Thursday 13 Feb evenings, we advise leaving more time for parking and walking to the Basement, or making cycling/public transport your first preference. Please note the Civic Car park will still be open, but in some periods will only be accessible from the entrance behind the Aotea Centre. We don't recommend parking in the Lower Greys Ave carpark. Any questions please get in touch with Basement Theatre!

Please arrive 15 minutes before show start time. Latecomers admitted into the theatre at Basement's discretion - no refunds will be given.

Please note unfortunately the Basement Studio space is not wheelchair accessible.

$15 and $20 Basement Mates tickets available for this event. Find out more about Basement Mates here.
