Due to complications around Covid-19, tonight’s performance of Essays In Love will not be going ahead.
The artists and team behind this work have worked incredibly hard and have already invested a considerable amount of money towards this production that they will not be able to make back in the absence of ticket sales. If you would like to show your support for them - please consider making your ticket purchase a donation towards the Essays In Love team, instead of requesting a refund.
We wish you all the best in this turbulent time and hope to see you at Basement another time soon!

Otto and Chloe meet on a flight between London and Paris, by the time they have picked up their bags they are in love.
It's beautiful, marvellous and wonderful...until it isn't.
Adapted from the acclaimed novel by modern day philosopher Alain de Botton, this brand new show puts love under the philosophical microscope, exploring every detail of its wonder, joy, pain and absurdity.
Featuring the French Revolution, chocolate allergies, passive aggressive squash and a calculation of the exact probability of falling in love at first sight on a British Airways flight, Essays in Love is funny, smart, intensely moving and deeply relatable to every human being who has ever fallen into and out of love.
Please arrive 15 minutes before show start time. Latecomers admitted into the theatre at Basement's discretion - no refunds will be given.
$15 and $20 Basement Mates tickets available for this event. Find out more about Basement Mates here.
