        "EVERYONE ELSE
         IS HAVING
         MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCES
         EXCEPT
         YOU"

Chrys arrives home from a failed spiritual journey to her ancestral homeland in Malaysia to live with her mum in Auckland. Between uni and the real world, the answer to the meaning of life appears in the form of real-life muse Leo, a Chinese man whom she meets by chance on the rooftop at a party. But when Leo is found dead a week later, Chrys spirals into a liminal world of mythology, blood ties and talking eels as she searches for the hidden meaning of their meeting.

Fresh off the Page is launching its first event for 2020, Chye-Ling Huang's Black Tree Bridge. A contemporary exploration on family, connection and culture - and a finalist for the Adam NZ Play Awards.

Original script developed as part of Silo Theatre's Working Titles programme.

This year, our play-readings will be ticketed with a small charge of $10 standard, $8 concession. This is to help support the development and growth of our programme, and to encourage sustainable practices within our community.

This event is proudly supported by Basement Theatre, Equity New Zealand, and Playmarket.
